Thick black clouds begin to take shape in the Ohio sky. They burst and unleash a torrent of oily rain and drench a solitary man. It’s an eerie, tone-setting opening vision seen by Curtis LaForche (Michael Shannon), superb in its quiet subtlety.
When this horror anthology turned up on Love Horror’s doorstep I couldn’t wait to watch it. I’m a massive Romero fan, he makes an appearance to bookend the shorts, and if it was anything like the collection of short stories in Creepshow (1982) I knew I’d be in for a treat. How wrong I was.
At Love Horror we pride ourselves on giving you impartial and honest reviews, so without wanting to lure you into this critique with false promises – like a nefarious character from a classic horror, I will say it outright. This is simply the worst film I have ever seen, and I have seen a few.
And now for something completely different…… Ghost Stories, written by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman, is the closest experience to a living horror film you will get.
